Designer Recruitment are working with a reputable furniture manufacturing company based in the Northamptonshire area who are seeking an Upholsterer Manager. With a strong commitment to quality craftsmanship, the company specializes in creating bespoke and high-end furniture pieces. We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Upholstery Manager to lead our upholstery department and ensure the smooth operation of our production processes while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Upholsterer Manager duties:
- Manage and supervise the upholstery department, overseeing all aspects of the production process, from fabric selection to the final upholstery application.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of skilled upholsterers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with the design team to interpret design specifications and ensure their successful implementation in the upholstery process.
- Plan and organize the production schedule, allocating resources effectively to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as design, production, and procurement, to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of upholstered furniture pieces.
- Monitor and maintain quality control throughout the upholstery process, ensuring adherence to design specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Implement and enforce health and safety regulations and best practices within the upholstery department.
- Identify areas for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement, implementing appropriate strategies and solutions.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and techniques related to upholstery and furniture manufacturing.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the availability of necessary materials, tools, and equipment for the upholstery department.
- Prepare regular reports on departmental performance, production metrics, and project statuses.
Upholstery Manager experience:
- Proven experience in upholstery and furniture manufacturing, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, materials, and tools.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of upholsterers.
- In-depth understanding of the furniture manufacturing process and familiarity with design specifications and technical drawings.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet production deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and coordinate with various stakeholders.
- Proficient in using computer software and systems relevant to upholstery and production management.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices in a manufacturing environment.
- A passion for quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing upholstery departments within high-end or furniture manufacturing companies.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
